Prostatitis Center |
Tucson, Arizona |
Our Story |
| Arthur T. Brown, Jr., a pilot for a major international airline, had a problem. For a long time, he had suffered from prostatitis, and the doctors he had seen in the U.S. had not been successful in treating it. You can imagine the discomfort of prostatitis, seated in an airliner cockpit on long overseas flights. |
| During his travels he learned that there was a doctor in Manila who was noted for his success in treating prostatitis. Brown went to the clinic of went to the clinic of Dr. A.E. Feliciano in Manila and was successfully treated. |
| Dr. Feliciano used a combination of a method American urologists had abandoned in favor of prescribing antibiotics, combined with careful lab work and accurate prescription of antibiotics. Dr. Feliciano practiced regular prostate "drainage", or very firm massage, to make sure pockets of infection in the gland were opened up and to help the antibiotics do their job. |
| After years of suffering, Brown had found relief. He became a strong advocate for the Manila procedures. In fact, he became a "Crusader"! But when he returned back to he United States, he was unable to find a urologist willing to learn the methods. |
| The solution to prostatitis Brown had found, however, is non-surgical. It does not require the surgical training that a urologist receives. In fact, he felt that it would be better to find and train an Internist, with experience with chronic infectious diseases such as TB. After an extensive search, found Dr. John W. Polacheck, M.D., to join in his project to make the "Manila Method" available in the United States. |
| First, they did an extensive review of the medical literature. Then they went to Manila for training with Dr. Antonio Espinosa Feliciano, Jr.. |
| The Prostatitis Center opened in Tucson, Arizona, U.S.A. on August 4, 1997. |
| The Manila methods are now available in the United States. Dr. Feliciano, Jr. is the consultant for the U.S. Center. He will be remain in contact via E-mail, FAX, and telephone for help in selecting appropriate new patients by reviewing their medical histories (before the patients arrive in Tucson) and for consultations, as needed, with difficult or unusual clinical problems. |
| The Prostatitis Center will use a microbiologist, David B. Michaud, for identifying the microbes and antibiotic sensitivities. He has a great deal of experience with unusual pathogens. The Prostatitis Center will utilize the laboratory services at the oldest hospital in Arizona, Carondelet St. Mary's Hospital. A successful cure depends on identifying the correct organism(s) and the proper antibiotic(s). |
