Proposed Agenda: Arizona Prostatitis Brainstorming Sessions

Thursday, October 18, 2001 starting at 3:00 PM.
    Pre-session (2 hours):
    We will meet at the Vega Bray Observatory in Benson, AZ.
    The topics will be:
  1. How to develop new strategies in order to increase the public awareness of prostatitis
  2. How to develop new strategies in order to increase funding for research, patient care, and patient support for prostatitis. We will invite some persons from Tucson with expertise in these areas.
Afterwards, there will be a barbecue (small extra fee) and telescope viewing (free).
Friday, October 19, 2001 starting at 8:00 AM.
    First Session (4 hours):
    We will meet at the Inn Suites Hotel on Granada St. in Tucson, AZ.

    The topic will be the cause(s) of prostatitis. Attendees will be encouraged to present new original papers. Also, we will invite some persons from Tucson with expertise in this area. A barbecue lunch, at the Inn Suites, will follow this session (small extra fee).
Friday, October 19, 2001 starting at 1:00 PM.
    Second Session (4 hours):
    We will meet at the Inn Suites Hotel on Granada St. in Tucson, AZ.
    The topic will be the treatment(s) of prostatitis. Attendees will be encouraged to present new original papers. Also, we will invite some persons from Tucson with expertise in this area.
Friday, October 19, 2001 starting at 7:00 PM.
    Dinner:
    We will meet at the China Rose Restaurant in Tucson (small extra fee). Key-note speaker and topic to be announced (free).
Saturday, October 20, 2001 starting at 8:00 AM.
    Third Session (4 hours):
    We will meet at the Inn Suites Hotel on Granada St. in Tucson, AZ.
    This session will be a divided into two concurrent sessions - - -
  1. There will be a basic science session for topics related to prostatitis. Attendees will be encouraged to present new original papers. Also, we will invite some persons from Tucson with expertise in these areas.
  2. There will be a session devoted to patient and partner support issues. Patients and their partners are encouraged to attend. As advisors, we are inviting health professionals with experience in patient and partner support for other chronic medical conditions.
    A Mexican fajita lunch, at the Inn Suites, will follow these sessions (small extra fee).
    Afterwards, the group will tour the World famous Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum (free).
Saturday, October 20, 2001 starting at 4:00 PM.
    Post-Session (2 hours):
    We will meet at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum in Tucson, AZ.
    The topic will be the prevention of prostatitis. Attendees will be encouraged to present new original papers. More importantly, we will try to develop new strategies and research proposals. Also, we will invite some persons from Tucson with expertise in this area.
    Supper at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum will follow this session (small extra fee). After that, for those who wish, they can attend a star party at the museum with telescope viewing (free).
